Few health problems have the potential to affect the horse regardless of age, breed, gender, housing, management, or intended use the way lameness can. All types of horses are susceptible to lameness, and sooner or later, most horses are affected by it." (Jeffcott 1982, Linder 1993), Equine 98 Census Report.

"The reason and purpose, like most inventions, necessity, to help with an injury that is practically inevitable and provide a safe, practical way to immediately immobilize the injured limb to prevent further damage while waiting for professional help."
Richard Lowe
Inventor

Every year hundreds of thousands of the equine population from recreational to various disciplines will become lame due to injuries, aging, etc. Flexor tendons are the most common, with four limbs susceptible to this specific injury, and an 82% chance of reoccurrence.

Introducing

The FlexorAide+TM / Pat Pending

The FlexorAide+ is the only product of its design and multipurpose function to be made available for direct purchase. This purpose is to provide safe, immediate immobilization to prevent further injury. The FlexorAide+ promotes continued support throughout the stages of the regenerative healing cycle with the ongoing supervision of your veterinarian, regarding the appropriate manipulation of the limb and proper setting of the splint during the first 3 to 4 months of regeneration and fibre organization, a crucial point in the rehabilitation and promotion of normal flexion/load bearing.

Simple by design

The FlexorAide+ is simple by design, with a user friendly, single person, 3 step application to front or hind limbs for nonsurgical post-surgical progressive rehabilitation cases such as hyper extension or rupture of superficial digital deep digital flexor tendons, suspensory ligaments, condylar fractures, laminitis, proximal suspensory desmitis, minor cannon/splint bone fractures (below knee/hock), abrasions, lacerations, etc.

RADIOLUCENT – a safe and practical solution

The FlexorAide+ is 100% RADIOLUCENT, enabling 360-degree radiographs and assessment of the injury during stages of healing, without removal of the splint, providing a safe, practical and easy way to progressively adjust the limb and eliminate the possibility of stress, discomfort, pain, or re-injury.

Eco-friendly and indestructible

The FlexorAide+ is made entirely of eco-friendly polycarbonate, one of the strongest materials on the planet, capable of withstanding 9000+ PSI (950 to 12001b horse, hoof to surface is approx 8000lbs. of pressure per hoof at full gallop), it’s padded with carbon black, closed cell, polyethylene foam (radiolucent, optimal for x-rays). It’s durable yet provides comfort and the prevention of abrasions. The foam is affixed with 3M 9472LE industrial strength adhesive, formulated to continue adhesion against various weather conditions and aggressive solvents, allowing a continuous wash and use cycle.

a better way

The FlexorAide+ provides an alternative to other devices and procedures regarding flexor tendon injuries, such as, expensive rental fees for “precision instruments” “in need of regular servicing and main component assessment and replacement on regular intervals”.

Or therapeutic shoeing, a work intensive/expensive process where various thickness of wedges are attached to the bottom of the hoof and periodically changed approximately every 4 to 5 weeks (by the farrier) who also keeps the hoof trimmed and balanced. The FlexorAide+ does not involve the hoof to achieve progressive healing, therefore eliminating this arduous process.

a history of innovation

The FlexorAide+TM / Pat Pending is a creation of LMl Direct. A company founded on 23 years of experience in the field of Veterinary medicine. Its founder’s hands-on care in the field led him to create safer and more effective tools for the trade, with the intention of providing a less stressful and more practical method for the patient and provider. This would eventually lead to the line of essential products for the veterinary, (and eventually) human medical and dental fields.

3 Step Instructions

The purpose of The FlexorAide+ is to provide safe, immediate immobilization to prevent further injury, and to promote continued support in the healing process in conjunction with your veterinarian, regarding the appropriate manipulation of the limb and proper setting of the splint during the stages of the
progressive healing process.

Step 1

Remove hinge arms from upper and lower cylinder braces.

Wrap the top (5½”) brace around the front of cannon bone (above fetlock) and fasten at the back of limb with hook and loop straps.
Wrap bottom (2”) brace around pastern bone (below fetlock) and fasten at the back of limb with hook and loop straps.

Begin with limb in a relaxed, standing position.

NOTE: The FlexorAide+ in the video is a second draft prototype and NOT the final product. This prototype is being provided preliminarily for visual aid only.

Step 2

Loosen geared hinges.

Manipulate hinge arms to place over appropriate bolts at upper and lower braces for proper fit.

Be sure the hinge arms are properly positioned within preset slots before securing in place with wing nuts.

Stop tightening at point of resistance to prevent damaging nut/bolt.

Step 3

Please note: The following step and on going healing process should proceed ONLY in conjunction with your veterinarian to optimize chances of full recovery.

When ready to position limb, loosen geared hinges and ONLY the lower hinge arms to allow manipulation of the limb to desired position.

Once in place, tighten lower hinge arms FIRST (to ensure alignment) then geared hinges

Only the center geared hinges and lower hinge arms will be repeatedly loosened and tightened for appropriate positioning during the progressive healing process.
